Gaeilge

gaeilge

Irish is a core subject on both the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate curriculum. In John the Baptist Community School we endeavour to develop a positive atmosphere in which the Irish language can be learned.

Emphasis is placed on developing the four key skills of learning a language such as listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will engage in a variety of interactive learning methodologies which cater for all levels and abilities which will help to improve their proficiency in the language.

In John the Baptist CS an emphasis is placed on developing students language skills both inside and outside of the classroom. Students are encouraged to take part in a variety of extracurricular activities such as an Irish Club, Irish debating, Gaeilge 24, the Irish flag initiative (Gaelbhratach), and many more activities which take place throughout the school year.
