Parent Teacher Meetings

We know that both teachers and parents can get nervous before parent-teacher meetings so we have collected below a set of hints for parents that we hope will help. Any parent/guardian is welcome to contact us at any time to make an appointment to discuss their child’s progress.

Before The Meeting

Talk to your student about the report and get a list of teachers from the student. View his/her school journal and bring it with you if you have concerns.

At The Meeting

When you meet the teacher, remember that there is always a possibility that you may hear things you are not expecting to hear.

Remember that both teachers and parents are there for the good of the students so any comments or remarks should not be taken as a criticism of you.

If you have worries or concerns, it may be best to make an appointment through the Principal/Deputy Principal or Year Head for another time.

After The Meeting

Time needs to be set aside to discuss the report with the student on his/her own. Talk about the good news from the report as well as the improvements that are needed. Teenagers can be very sensitive so be careful when sharing content with the rest of the family and avoid comparing them with siblings.
