John the Baptist C.S. journeys to the magical land of Oz…

The Wiz in John the Baptist Community School was staged on the 4th and 5th of March, 2011. A modern update of the classic tale “The Wizard of Oz”, “The Wiz” follows the magical adventure of Dorothy, who is swept to a strange new land after a tornado. There she goes on an extraordinary journey, meeting new friends, battling evil forces, and may even come face to face with the all powerful Wiz! Will she ever get home?

This highly energetic and exciting show was staged entirely by Transition Year students and was a hugely colourful and enjoyable performance. The shows producers, Ms. McNulty, Ms. Hayes and Ms. Hurley worked tirelessly in bringing “The Wiz” from page to stage, resulting in a fantastic production that played to packed to capacity audiences every night. The entire show would not have been possible without the help of the entire staff of John the Baptist C.S. who toiled over sets, painting, costumes and every aspect that made this such a great experience for students.
