Cake Sale for Philippines Recovery

Students and staff at John the Baptist C.S. today rallied to help those left devastated in the Phillipines by Typhoon Haiyan. The tropical storm, one of the most powerful ever recorded, decimated large regions, leaving millions injured, homeless and hungry. Up to 10,000 could have been killed in Tacloban alone. Moved by the plight of survivors, TY students, with the aid of the Home Economic Department, organised a large cake sale over both lunchtimes. Tasty treats such as meringues, buns, biscuit cake and cheesecakes were well received by all at the school. Over €630 was raised by their efforts, with money still coming in. This was a great endeavour and congratulations to all involved.
