Congratulations to some successful fashionistas from John the Baptist Community School who emerged from eighty one entrants to gain one of the eighteen Southern Finalists spots for the national final of Junk Kouture 2015. Junk Kouture http://www.junkkouture.com/, in association with Repak, encourages students to repurpose and recycle old and discarded materials to create stunning clothing designs.
The stunning gold creation, "The Nutcracker" was created with countless pistachio shells, painstakenly arranged and painted. Well done to all those involved with the project, especiall Conor Creed, Kate Archibold, Kornelia Novak, Sophie O'Riordan and their teacher Ms. Caoimh Ryan.
The piece was modelled by Sophie O'Riordan, who performed beautifully in front of an almost capacity crowd at the Southern Final in the University of Limerick Concert Hall, on Friday 13th of March. Best of luck in the final!
