One Good School – Calling all Parents/Guardians!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are delighted to announce that John the Baptist Community School has been selected for a two-year initiative called One Good School (OGS)  in conjunction with Jigsaw. The initiative aims to support the Mental Health and Wellbeing of Young People through a series of talks, webinars and workshops for students, staff and parents.

Jigsaw is a National Centre for youth Mental Health Ireland offering clinical support to 12-25yr olds who maybe facing challenges in their Mental Health. One Good School is a way of Jigsaw working with the whole school – community of Students, Staff and Parents to build mental health knowledge and skills so that problems can be addressed early on.

To launch this initiative in our school, we will have a Jigsaw Piece outside the main school door on which we are asking you to write just one word that for you describes positive mental health. Parents can add their word when dropping off your student to school in the morning or indeed if you happen to be passing the school during the day.
The Jigsaw piece will be available for you to sign from Monday 21st March to Wed 23rd March Inclusive.

Then on Friday 25th we will assemble and display all the jigsaw pieces from students’ staff and parents to symbolise our journey together over the next two years.
As parents you will be hearing a lot about OGS in the future, and we will be inviting you to watch webinars by clinicians in Jigsaw to help further understand the importance of One Good Adult in your child’s life.
