Harty Victory seals Quarter Final place!

Congratulations to our Senior hurlers and their mentors Mr. McCaffrey, Mr. Deegan and Mr. Martin on their epic Harty win over a much backed Our Lady’s Templemore today. It was a hard battle with the game level nine times and points and goals traded on both sides. The team rallied with a powerful performance for much of the second half, battling from being 5 points down. It was a whole team effort with every man giving his very all and a range of scorers – Owen Meaney 1-6 (1-5 frees, ’65), Hugh Murnane 2-2, Diarmuid Hurley 0-6, Sean Casey and Hugh Flanagan 0-2 each, Charlie Cronin, Declan Heavey 0-1 and Shane Ryan 0-1 each. Having taken control from the 45th minute, the boys from JTBCS were ahead with seconds to go, when Owen Meany’s goal from a long range free in added time sealed an amazing performance and their place in a Harty Cup quarter final in January. This is a huge achievement for the school. Many thanks to all involved in any way, all those who travelled with supporters and to all the supporters that got behind the team and added to the electric atmosphere.
