Wonder Women Wow at Rugby!

Women’s rugby continues to go from strength to strength at John the Baptist Community School. Following on from the great success the girls had at their 7-a-side blitz back in October, they attended an 11-a-side Munster blitz in Rockwell on Thursday last. Both teams got off to a winning start with the U16’s team beating Ard Scoil Mhuire with tries by Alana and Aoibhinn. In addition, the U19’s beat Ard Scoil Mhuire’s Senior girls, spearheaded by tries by Aisling, Caroline, Claire and Holly.
The U16’s followed this great win with a win over Cashel with two tries from Aoibhinn sealing the deal. Unfortunately, the U19’s were narrowly beaten by Bandon in their second match.
In the final round, the U16’s beat Thomand with tries by Olivia, Eimear, Alanna and Aoibhinn and the U19’s beat Nenagh with tries by Aisling, Caroline, Sinead and Holly.
These girls showed great determination and passion in representing their school and their management team of Ms. Ryan, Ms. McInerney, Mr. Ryan and Mr. McCoy along with their coaches Pat Kavanagh, Sarah Kavanagh and Paddy Freeney are extremely proud of what they have achieved so far this year. These two teams will now be entered into Cup games in the New Year and we are all looking forward to what is around the corner with these amazing girls.
